Next Generation Program

Summer Speaker Program: COS invites current college students and area professionals to interact with players during the months of June to August.

Soccer Across America Annual Urban Cup 3 V 3: Since 2010 the Urban Cup
has served 430 children from surrounding counties.  The event is held annually on the 1st Saturday in June at Coffin Park.   This is the only free 3 V 3 soccer one day tournament in the area.  This format continues to help COS reduce the barriers to participation by eliminating tournament fees and travel expenses. Each team represents a country by creating the team flag and wearing their selected country colors.  During The Parade of Nations, players, parents, and community stakeholders gain a global perspective.  This event has provided local youth, 14 to 16 years old, and the opportunities to serve their communities while developing their leadership and public speaking skills and heightening their community awareness.

College Preparation: COS players attend two college tours during the year to learn about the admission process, recruitment, campus life, and other opportunities available to them while continuing their education after high school.  Players get to hear first- hand the importance of working hard, maintaining good grades, and making good choices on and off the field, from college students and staff.  Visit: Jacksonville University , Georgia State University ,Fisk University, Trinity Baptist College , Georgia Southern University , Toccoa Falls College.

Career Exploration: During the summers, players tour local businesses to learn about company operations and job duties and responsibilities.  Business spokes persons also share with players the educational requirements.

Leadership Development: The leadership skills program uses the positive CHOICE curriculum for boys, and Go Girls Go curriculum for girls. These curriculums encourage young people to use soccer to examine the choices they make in life and how those choices impact their future. These successful program curriculums, joined with teaching the game and skills of soccer will provide a powerful tool for equipping under privileged and underserved children with the life skills they need to become productive, caring, and responsible adults.
