Big Play Center of Excellence
Coastal Outreach Academies opened the doors of a renovated 1550 square donated portable for 6th to 12th graders from low to moderate income families to receive academic support Monday to Friday during after school hours. Students are not charge any fees to attend or receive services from mentors and volunteers at the academic center. The center has 20 Chromebooks that are available for students to use for test preparation, review of course work, completion of homework, and gives this group of students’ accesses to technology. The center has become a safe environment for students to improve the literacy skills, receive academic support services, explore careers, college preparation and develop leadership skills. COS high school students who were dual enroll students since 2013 completed over 200 college credits saving up to $167,000 in college tuition.
