OUR SOCCER PROGRAMS FOCUS ON SKILLS THAT CAN BE USED TO ACHIEVE GOALS IN THE FUTURE.

SOCCER PROGRAMS WE OFFER

Academy

Coastal Outreach Soccer Academy Program is for children 4 to 11 years old. Our academy program places emphasis on the total development of the child, not just on winning and losing games. COS learning environment involves coaches who serve as strong positive mentors and engage parents as allies to help student athletes with their development on and off the field. COS Academy plays small sided games with fewer players involved to allow coaches to provide attention to each child more easily. The Department of Justice has seen positive results from mentors who act as coaches at a 1 coach to seven student athlete ratios at this age. Small sided games also help attract first generation parents who are unfamiliar with soccer which better helps us engage at risk children at an earlier age.

Travel

The COS Travel Soccer is designed for children 12 years and older to play to reach their full potential at the highest levels of soccer in the state of Georgia and Florida. COS teams regularly compete against clubs with more resources and larger player pools. Despite these odds, COS teams are very competitive and attract the attention of spectators as they travel in Georgia and North Florida. The primary purpose of the travel program is to help COS student athlete gain exposure to opportunities for student athletes to attend elite schools and college through soccer without families incurring the $1000 to $2000 in expenses from registration, coaching, tournament, and traveling expenses that most Georgia Soccer teams charge. COS student athletes since 2014 have received athletic/academic scholarship packages totaling $350,000.00

Girls Program

Our Time

The Our Time program is COS effort to keep girls involved in physical fitness, cultural enrichment, and empowerment activities. Girls from low to moderate income urban communities stop participating in physical fitness activities at higher rate than girls from other communities as they become teenagers. Reasons for sports dropout are:

  • With adolescence comes a greater desire for cooperation and connectedness over competition
  • Girls are less tolerant of poor sports behavior than boys.
  • Teenage girls experience a crisis of confidence.
  • Teenage girls still think sports are unfeminine.
  • Girls sometimes don’t receive the support they need from their family.

COS offers girls only teams, women mentors and guest speakers to continue to educate players, parents, coaches, community stakeholder about benefits of staying involved in sports and of continuing their education. This provides girls the confidence and support to continue athletics through their teenage years. Studies show that girls involved with sports in their teenage years are far less likely to have teenage pregnancies.

Our Time International Girls Club Friendly: This is the only international girls club friendly games held in Georgia that are sanctioned by United States Soccer Federation and Bahamas Football Association. Coastal Outreach Soccer U17 girls played Bahama United Girls team from Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas. The purpose of this annual event, Second Week of July, is to promote sports(wo)manship, fellowship, and culture awareness from a global prospective.
